Beyond the Traditional Fare
Mathews Safaris guided and operated exclusive tented camps for over four decades before becoming one of the first custom safari companies to recognize that many financially independent travelers desire a full suite of destination management services, beyond the traditional fare.
Whilst fortunate enough to have been counted as one of the elite mobile luxury tented safari operators in East Africa, our primary focus since 2003 has been providing the ultimate safari experience for our clients in partnership with the most best lodges, camps and charter services throughout Africa.
A New Direction
This new direction has grown from the recognition that, whilst much of the industry focuses on tradition and a “guide culture”, the educated clients of today expect guides who focus on them and their interests.
The vast majority of our business is repeat clients and new guests, referred directly by them.
Mathews Safaris is now owned and run by Clair Mathews Crawford, English by birth but resident in Kenya for over twenty years.
An experienced expedition planner for the Royal Geographical Society and a trained Geocartographer, Clair balanced safari work with a career tracking elephants using GIS.
